Fourth of July

When I was a kid, I remember my parents always having a neighborhood Fourth of July BBQ, so we decided that even though we don't live in Boise, we would keep the tradition alive. We invited a couple of families from our ward over, and had so much fun! So much fun that we didn't take a single picture :( Oh well.

We just bought a bunch of stuff for hamburgers and hotdogs and some drinks and then everyone else brought side dishes. The kids had fun playing in our little kid pools, throwing water balloons, and squirting water guns. Later on we made homemade ice cream and the kids had ice cream cones. We had to eat the ice cream inside though, because the wind really started to pick up. Fortunately, it died down enough that we could go outside again and light off fire works in our neighbors backyard, and watch the Stadium of Fire fire works across the street at the park.

Overall it was the perfect day for a BBQ. It was nice and overcast, which we really appreciated when we were sitting outside watching the parade that morning. The kids all played really nice together and Ben and I always enjoy any reason to throw a party. It looks like this will be a fun tradition to continue.

How fun...I might have to copy your idea next year. A neighborhood bbq is always fun!

Sounds like a ton of fun! I think BBQ's and 4th of July really are two of a kind! I am glad you decided to do your own instead of just wishing for one to attend.
